As of this summer, exactly one hundred years have passed since the Czechoslovak businessman Tomáš Baťa expanded into the Netherlands. The ČT Events (September 8, 2021) brought a great report, although it was the third from the end of 34 reports. Just to clarify, the photo in the report does not show the father of Tomas Bata's son Tomík, but Jan Antonín Baťa, who took over the company and brought it to prosperity. He saved thousands of Jews during the war, yet they are still silent about this. The son of the founder, his uncle (his father's half-brother), was fraudulently deprived of the company after the war. Once the seventh largest enterprise in the world and the largest company in Czechoslovakia, it gradually began to decline and lost its importance under the leadership of Tomík.
The Czech Republic has not yet dealt with the descendants of the rightful owner of the company, Baťa, Jan Antonín Bata. They did not receive compensation for the illegally confiscated property of this successful businessman and a great patriot.
Jan proved his patriotism, among other things with his great financial support of the SNP and the Czech government in exile in London. This was not covered in the report, although it had… 130 seconds to deliver this message which overshadowed all the other news. Baťa's village is located in North Holland and was built exactly according to the model of Zlín. The last place on the old continent where Baťa's shoes are still made. The only thing the Dutch lacked were sloping roofs. Baťa rejected this on purpose: "If you build a sloping roof, you will only create a room for clutter", i.e., no slope, no clutter. Baťa created modern houses with running water, electricity, gas, just about everything. To this day, there is great interest in these houses in the real estate market. It is the last working Baťa satellite in Europe, exactly modeling the Czech factory.
Martijn Mathot, CEO of Bata Industrials: "Never change a winning plan when it works." And that's exactly the case here. The victorious Baťa spirit is still felt in Baťa's village. "Here is a place for those who will go higher." - This inscription remains on the wall of the factory today.
