Page 45: „From the defence of Jan A. Bata's associate Jan Udržal, slandered in Red Law: "He laughs today at those times when, as an immature student, he considered communism to be the way to the salvation of mankind and therefore belonged among them. - So did I. Today, however, communism is no longer the party of progress, but of the reddest backwardness. We do not stand for a situation where every 20 years the leading heads in the state must be shot - as soon as they come to their senses."
Pg. 50: "Unless the interchange of goods, money, and men between states is freed, there must necessarily be a wholesale exchange of bombs and shrapnel, prisoners and death."
Pg. 51: "This state is our home. We have it by the labor, love, and blood of our fathers, and we are bound to maintain and improve it for our children."
"To work to overcome geographical smallness by the greatness of our labor. To build so that our country will allow for the great efficiency of the Bohemian man and still be able to support the increments. And to govern ourselves in such a way that the Czech man feels himself a responsible citizen who seeks first duty and then right. Above all, however, the duty to perform to the best of one's ability in every profession and in every place...
I am not worried about the future of this nation. It will be glorious. And it will earn it with its own hands and woolly heads - in work and by work."
