Universities behave in a market-driven manner. The more students, the more profit. Quality is not a priority. That's why anyone can graduate from college, even those who couldn't make it through high school in the first republic. It will always be about the true elite that drives the nation. An elite of teachers and an elite of students will suffice. Otherwise, slowly everyone will be a college student, doing nothing productive. The result will be a shortage of craftsmen who will be paid much more than college students. The true elite are necessarily a minority and the majority are necessarily dependent on them. Small countries without an elite inevitably disappear over time. The big ones can always replace it. Switzerland is well aware of this. The Czech Republic, in this respect, voluntarily endangers its future. It is not surprising when it is headed by graduates of these universities in the majority, and who can only make a living from politics of an adequate quality. If citizens continue to be passive, they deserve only misery and gradual decline. JŠ
