U.S. Representative for Georgia's 14th congressional district Marjorie Taylor Greene announced the news on Twitter Thursday, President Biden's first full day in office.
"I just filed Articles of Impeachment on President Joe Biden," said Rep. Greene in a video.
The Congresswoman later released a full statement, stating that Biden "is unfit to hold the office of the Presidency," accusing him of abuse of power during his time as vice president in the Obama White House, and accusing him of "blatant nepotism" with regards to his son Hunter.
She said in a tweet on Jan. 13th, "On January 21st, I’m filing Articles of Impeachment on President-elect. 75 million Americans are fed up with inaction. It’s time to take a stand. I’m proud to be the voice of Republican voters who have been ignored."
Greene's office provided us with the following statement after her Jan. 13th announcement:
"We have to make sure our leaders are held accountable. We cannot have a President of the United States that is willing to abuse their power and be easily bought off by foreign governments. On behalf of the American people, I will introduce articles of impeachment against President-elect Joe Biden on January 21st for his corrupt dealings with Ukrainian and Chinese energy companies and his abuse of power as Vice President by threatening to withhold foreign aid to bail out his son Hunter Biden by demanding the firing of a foreign prosecutor."
Recently, the Georgia representative's Twitter account was temporarily suspended over debunked election fraud claims. The action came as Twitter attempts to rein in harmful activity following the deadly riots at the U.S. Capitol.
