Citát dne

Karel Havlíček Borovský

  • European Commission Vice-President Věra Jourová is actively and consciously participating in the agitation propaganda of the Slovenian left

    Jourova v klouboukuJourova gratuluje

Updated 27.9.2023: Elon Musk Posts Vaccine 'Dis Information' to Clap Back at Threat by EU Censors

    ***

This article was published on 14.9.2023 in the Slovenian opposition magazine Demokracija. JŠ

    ***

European politicians, together with the Slovenian left and left-wing media moguls, are fighting against real freedom of speech, against pluralisation, against Slovenian journalists and against the truth.

    ***

    Mitja Iršič

Sometimes we have the feeling that European officials live on another planet and have no idea what is going on in Slovenia. That is why they sometimes sound ridiculous when they talk about the situation in Slovenia. Let us just remember how, during the Janša government, MEPs described the bleak picture of the Slovenian media landscape, saying that journalists were afraid to leave the house and that powerful right-wing politicians were ruining their careers. Every Slovenian left-winger laughed at the time, of course, because it is clear to them too that the real power to destroy someone's career in Slovenia lies solely with the left. It is not all ignorance. Sometimes it is pure political manipulation, with European politicians helping their Slovenian ideological allies. A textbook example is the Vice-President of the European Commission, Věra Jourová.

For more than two years, she has argued that the failure of the previous government to fund the Slovenian Press Agency (STA) represents a significant European milestone in the persecution of media freedom. She also recently explained in an interview with Investigate Europe how upset she was when Janez Janša's government stopped funding the STA and the agency mounted a fundraising campaign, even going so far as to suggest that this was one of the main motives for proposing European media legislation.

Is Jourová, then, another naive European bureaucrat who has chosen to believe Slovenian left-wing activists in the service of left-wing politics? Not at all. Jourová knows exactly the situation in Slovenia and she knows exactly what is going on

  • Is the government hiding the fact that migrants started the Socerbo fire? Some portals reported this information, but then broke their silence...

Pozar socerb FOTO STA Sebastijan R MaccekThe fire in the Gorica Karst had not even cooled down when the fire broke out on the edge of the karst near Socerbo on Tuesday evening. The fire is still not extinguished, but is under control, the STA news agency reported this morning. The biggest obstacle to the fire's eradication is the storm that forced firefighters to battle all day yesterday.

According to data from the RS Protection and Rescue Administration from Tuesday afternoon, the fire had an area of about 15 hectares, but according to the head of the intervention, David Hrvatin, this number increased slightly towards the evening. On the Italian side, two villages also had to be evacuated because of the fire. The latest fire is certain to further threaten the drinking water supply in Slovenian Istria.

It is interesting that no one is reporting on the cause of the fires, which have been particularly intense in Primorska this summer, despite the fact that most of the European Union has problems with them. While the regime's media and various influencers are looking for the cause of the fires in climate change and global warming, in the case of the latest fire in Socerbo, rumours are spreading that it all started with open burning, which is strictly forbidden at this time of year and which the locals observe. One of the possible causes of the fire is the littering of cigarette butts, a rather nasty habit even among Slovenian drivers, who throw still burning cigarettes out of open car windows. However, there is increasing speculation that the fires are also linked to increased migration.

    Let's take a closer look

  • Young Belarusians Caught Smuggling Moroccans Near Semič

STA, 29 July 2020 - Two young Belarusians pulled over by the police near Semič close to the border with Croatia on Tuesday evening were found to be carrying a total of ten Moroccans in two vehicles with Polish license plates in what is but the latest in a series of similar incidents reported by the police.

A press release from the Novo Mesto Police Department said the Moroccans had entered Slovenia illegally. The two Belarusians, both aged 21, will be brought before an investigating judge, while proceedings involving the migrants are still ongoing. Slovenian police handled 4,993 attempts at crossing the border illegally from January to the end of June, a decrease of 12.4% compared with the same period last year, a fall blamed on the pandemic loockdown and border restrictions.
