The fire in the Gorica Karst had not even cooled down when the fire broke out on the edge of the karst near Socerbo on Tuesday evening. The fire is still not extinguished, but is under control, the STA news agency reported this morning. The biggest obstacle to the fire's eradication is the storm that forced firefighters to battle all day yesterday.
According to data from the RS Protection and Rescue Administration from Tuesday afternoon, the fire had an area of about 15 hectares, but according to the head of the intervention, David Hrvatin, this number increased slightly towards the evening. On the Italian side, two villages also had to be evacuated because of the fire. The latest fire is certain to further threaten the drinking water supply in Slovenian Istria.
It is interesting that no one is reporting on the cause of the fires, which have been particularly intense in Primorska this summer, despite the fact that most of the European Union has problems with them. While the regime's media and various influencers are looking for the cause of the fires in climate change and global warming, in the case of the latest fire in Socerbo, rumours are spreading that it all started with open burning, which is strictly forbidden at this time of year and which the locals observe. One of the possible causes of the fire is the littering of cigarette butts, a rather nasty habit even among Slovenian drivers, who throw still burning cigarettes out of open car windows. However, there is increasing speculation that the fires are also linked to increased migration.

The area of the Koper police headquarters has been the busiest area for illegal migration in recent months, where more than 100 migrants are detected every day without the police being informed about what happens to them, how many of them apply for international protection and how many are returned to Croatia. Unfortunately, even the daily reports of the Koper police chronicle do not indicate where the migrants have been found, but our unofficial sources claim that their corridor leads towards Italy, through the Glinščice valley, as evidenced by the objects and clothes that have been dumped in the area. Two years ago, when PU Koper was still reporting on the places of detention of migrants, the area of Kastelca and Socerba, from where the road across the border to Italy (Dolina pri Trstu) leads, was mentioned several times. In January 2020, there was an accident near Socerba in which an Algerian migrant slipped into a 20-metre drop. Migration is particularly active at night.
It is also a fact that the removal of the border fence and the announcement by the Ministry of the Interior on the automatic legalisation of all illegal migration are a real challenge for smugglers to increase pressure on the border with Slovenia. On the other hand, some EU Member States are announcing greater protection of their borders (which would mean the suspension of the Schengen Agreement) and possible sanctions for countries that encourage illegal migration (including Slovenia, led by the Golob government). Although the external Schengen border is due to move next spring to Croatia's borders with Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro, this will require the cooperation of other EU members in protecting the external border.
Given that the police are politically controlled by left-wing NGOs, there seems to be no option but for the local population to take control themselves and investigate the burning of open fires, especially in places where migration routes run.
P.S. The new leftist government is destroying Schengen. It is removing the barbed wire on the border with Croatia so that migrants can easily get to Slovenia and continue on easily - towards Italy. The flow of migrants has increased dramatically. They are making a mess, setting fires, disturbing the local population. The fire in Socerbo is thus probably the result of their unacceptable behaviour. The silence of the pro-government media would suggest so. JŠ
