Oleg Sentsov, a Ukrainian film director and civil society activist, who participated in the Avtomaidan Civil Movement has been arrested and charged with terrorism. His arrest is a component of the campaign unleashed against Russian policy opponents in the Crimea. We demand Oleg Sentsov be freed immediately. Oleg's first full-length film, and his very first piece, The Gamer (2011) brought him acclaim from both film critics and spectators. He is the single father of two underage kids.

On Saturday, July 5th 2014, at 6:30 PM, the Japanese Minister of Interior Mr. Yoshitato Sindo, and Ms. Věra Čáslavská, laid down a wreath by the small memorial on Václavské Square in Prague to honor the memory of Jan Palach. Minister Yoshitato Sindo is very interested in our history and values the bravery of citizens of former Czechoslovakia. He used this occasion to fulfill his wish to meet Mrs. Věra Čáslavská who is quite known among citizens of Japan, not only as a winner several gold Olympic medals (specifically on Olympic games in Tokyo 1964), but also as a symbol of struggle against Czechoslovakian Communist totalitarian regime and for her actions during anti-Communist revolution in 1989. The wreath laying act was a non-official part of communiqué announcing agreement between the Czech Republic and Japan about cooperation in areas of communication and information technologies, planned for Monday, July 7th. On Recognition Day of Slavonic missionaries Constantinus Philosophos (Cyril), and his brother Methodius (July 5th), and the day before we commemorate 599 years since burning at the stake of Mister Jan Hus (July 6th), we again have to remind ourselves the real meaning of truths for our history and our lives. It is really a shame that our real heroes are more honored in foreign countries than in the country where they were born, where they worked and for which they laid down their lives.

On 26th February, 1948, a Communist Coup d´etat was staged in Prague and a new Protectorate set up. The Czech Nation had been betrayed for the second time. The first time was in the autumn of 1938, when the President of the Czechoslovak Republic accepted, against the unanimous will of the Czech people, the Munich Agreement which o few months later unavoidably led to the occupation of the Czech Lands by the Germans and to the establishment of the „Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia.“ The second betrayal happened in February, 1948, when, in spite of the evident anti-communist attitude of the majority of the Czech people, Dr. Edward Benes surrendered once more…

Apparently, Ex-president Benes made an agreement and borrowed against the Czechoslovakia's gold reserve. Then the gold disappeared. But did it really disappear? - It is interesting how the article on the 6,000,000 lbs. of Czechoslovak Gold states that the gold was transferred to Germans whereas there is evidence that President Benes in fact pledged the gold to Great Britain for use in financing Czechoslovak forces in Great Britain. It is surprising that no one has published this information, with the exception of me publication in 2014.
On December 10, 1940 a second agreement was signet regagrding the financing of Czechoslovak forces during the war. A key element of the agreement related to the use by the Provisional government of some Ł6,000,000 of Czechoslovak funds held by the Bank of England. The agreement invalidated German claims to the funds and established the necessary provisions for their use in the war effort. A credit of Ł7,500,000 was established with further amounts to be approved if necessary. In addition, the second agreement laid out plans and provisions „for preparation for Anglo-Czechoslovak co-operation for the Republic after the end of the war. … Finally, on July 18, 1941 Eden summoned Masaryk to the Foreign Office and handed him a note, in which the Britisch government officially recognized the Czechoslovak gevernment under the terms specified by Beneš. The note restored for Britain the former international status of Beneš and his goverment and opened the door for solution of future questions regarding the frontiers of Czechoslobakia, as well as postwar relations with Great Britain and other Allied governments. … Winston Churchill demanded to know how the government could ask its citizens to enlist in the military when it was “so butter-fingered that £6 million worth of gold can be transferred to the Nazi government.

Under this title the journal Economist has published a Leaders article (Oct. 19, 2013), in which theajtention has been called to the situation in contemporary science. They have introduced that the main idea underpinning science: “trust, but verify” has been subsequently abandoned after the science started to explore the world after direct recognition. In the article main attention has been devoted to bio-technological research. It has been argued that a great part of corresponding research has been based on wrong assumptions as it has not been possible to replicate a half of published research and in some research regions it has been managed to repeat less than a quarter of important published papers only. Negative results have not been practically published and leading journals (trying to safeguard their exclusivity) have refused a very great part of submitted papers, which means that new important research ideas cannot be practically presented to broader community. The corresponding published results have not been sufficiently verified, either. Other shortages have been introduced and summarized, too.

"I’ve been fighting for his liberation for some time, and I believe he is a political prisoner in the hands of Putin.” - Elie Wiesel, Nobel laureate
Since Khodorkovsky and Lebedev were arrested in 2003, Amnesty International has continually expressed concern over their treatment in detention. In May 2011, Amnesty International designated them both to be prisoners of conscience, jailed for the non-violent expression of their political beliefs, and called for their release. The position of Amnesty International echoes that of other international NGOs, including Human Rights Watch and Freedom House, as well as world leaders across the globe, in recognising the political nature of the campaign of persecution waged against Khodorkovsky.
